TV3's Telenotícies Migdia highlights the 10-year history of the Industrial Doctorates Plan as a successful model of collaborative research

The report highlights the almost full employability of the program participants | Two applied and collaborative research projects are presented as success stories

The Telenotícies migdia of TV3 has broadcast a brief report in relation to the 10th anniversary of the Industrial Doctorates Plan of the Generalitat de Catalunya. Briefly, the presenter Xavi Coral has explained the essence of the program: “it consists of students doing their doctoral thesis in a company. He has also highlighted one of the successes of the program, the almost full employability of its participants: “ of the 700 researchers who have gone through it, more than half have stayed working in the company and practically all those who have participated in the program have found qualified work ”.

The success stories chosen by the Catalan public television network are led by two Catalan researchers. Anna Mas Herrador, who has developed her collaborative research project between the company Greennova Foundation and the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV), explains in the report: “ if we compare this industrial doctorate with a traditional doctorate, in this doctorate we find more points of innovation and the applicability of the research we are doing and also the opportunity to stay in the company once the doctorate is completed”

The second project is led by Alicia Cañellas-Mayor, with a project between the company VISYON of the Mediapro group and the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF). During the interview, she states: “ The program is super complete. Obviously, a thesis and a doctorate involve a certain degree of complication. It is a tough stage, but the final result is really incredibly satisfying. We generated a prototype with different implementations that an experimental study was done with real users, most of the group of people with cerebral palsy and we were able to test that these implementations really improved the user experience and that was it .”
