The Doctoral School of the University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia has opted, from the outset, to promote among the research groups of the university and between the industrial and business world the generation of projects that can be integrated into the Industrial Doctorates Plan, whose objective is to contribute to the competitiveness and internationalization of the Catalan industry, strengthen the tools to attract the talent generated by the country and place future doctors in a position to develop R&D&I projects in a company. For a university like the UVic-UCC, with a strong desire to enter the economic, cultural and social fabric that surrounds it, the link between high-level university education, advanced research and knowledge transfer to the production sector, becomes a strategic objective of the first order.

The deepening of research, organization and communication skills that every doctorate requires, should not have the purpose of limiting its impact only within the academy, until some time ago, the only professional horizon of a person with the title of doctorate. It should serve, as a search for excellence, to innovate in all areas where it is possible to develop proposals for improvement thanks to doctoral research. It is not a forced migration of doctoral students towards activities outside the university, but rather to expand the spaces that are their own in research and innovation and that, increasingly, are more and more intersections between the university world and the productive world.
