Descripció del projecte
Motion prediction in football is a challenging task that involves capturing the complex dynamics resulting from spatiotemporal and social interactions
among players and the ball. This information has turned out to be key to offering a large number of metrics that help to monitor and understand the
game, as well as to define team strategies and obtain social patterns in the sporting event. Unfortunately, current methods have oversimplified the
use of information, failing to exploit the large amount of contextual visual information that can be acquired by color cameras. The main goal of the
project is to design and implement a novel vision-based system that understands and predicts team strategies and player movements by
considering spatiotemporal and social interactions.
The project will be carried in cooperation with the following two institutions:
– Institut de Robòtica i Informàtica Industrial (IRI) in the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.
– Optima Sports Systems S.L.
The scientific advisor in IRI will be Dr. Antonio Agudo Martínez.
The responsible for part of the company will be Dr. Antonio Rubio Romano.
