Descripció del projecte
The general objective of the project is the research and development of novel industrially feasible encapsulation strategies free of microplastics. More specifically, this project aims for a substitute of the classical microplastic capsules used in cosmetic for reducing its environmental impact and be in line with the current and future legislation. In parallel, these new generation of microcapsules will be incorporated in cosmetic applications to add new functionalities beyond current marketed technologies focusing on directed hair/tissue deposition and time durability.
The main innovations of the project are detailed below:
– Microplastics free microencapsulation technologies.
– Active ingredientes with new functionalities.
– Increase performance on final cosmetic formulations.
The research will be focused on different points which are detailed below:
– Building a suitable library of biodegradable and biocompatible polymers in terms of processability, manufacturability and cost-effectiveness. These polymers will follow market regulations and safety, security and biodegradability will be tested in vivo.
– Design a set of multifunctional fragrances for cosmetic hair applications.
– Formulation of new biomaterials for encapsulating active ingredients (fragrances + added value active ingredients in dermocosmetics).
– Selection of the most suitable microencapsulation procedure in terms of size, encapsulation efficiency, stability and release profile.
– Industrial technology validation.
