Freeze drying is a key process within the pharmaceutical industry. Traditionally, the pharmaceutical industry has relied in batch processes in all the production stages being the freeze drying the most time and energy consuming step.
Telstar, in its aim to be at the technological edge of the life science sector, intends to develop a system that changes the the current standard by a continuous and GMP compliant freeze drying equipment for bulk product.
The project has the following objectives:
– Prototype testing (experimental design)
– Simulation and assessement of energy consumption (and versus batch process)
– Assessment of the freeze dried particles with the new system
– Pressure and temperature profile specification
