Descripció del projecte
This project will focus on understanding the unique characteristics of the VR media which need to be taken into account when designing and developing interfaces for it. The project will take into account the uniqueness of VR spatial characteristics for data representation, compared to more traditional screen-based systems, and the salient user embodiment in the interaction process, as compared to more constraining physical interfaces such as controllers or desktop settings (i.e. mouse and keyboard paradigm).
For bringing some light to the uniqueness of UI and user experience (UX) in VR, the project will start by reviewing the actual literature and development on UI and UX in VR. This literature review should help on better identifying which are the strategies commonly found on actual VR experiences regarding user interaction and virtual environments data exploration and manipulation. From this analysis, research will be conducted for better understanding the specifics of user perception and sensorimotor abilities during UX in VR. This research will help better understand the uniqueness of VR compared to more traditional and less immersive media. Finally, a framework for studying and developing UI/UX in VR will be developed based on the outcomes from the review and research procedures.
This project will be a joint task by UOC and Inflight VR, leading company on VR as inflight entertainment.
