The Industrial Doctorate Plan celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. During this first decade of operation of the Department of Research and Universities program, it has involved 530 companies, the 12 Catalan universities, 25 research centers in Catalonia (CERCA), other research organizations in Catalonia (CSIC, BSC, Eurecat, among others), which together have involved more than 600 researchers.
To celebrate this anniversary, we present the first edition of the 2022 Impact Awards for Industrial Doctorates. The objective of this competition is to highlight the impact that collaborative research has generated in the different industrial doctoral projects, as well as to bring this research closer to the public to identify challenges (current or future) and anticipate what type of impact it would generate.

CONTEST RULES
Participation in the 2022 Impact Awards competition for Industrial Doctorates implies acceptance and compliance with the following rules:
I. PURPOSE
The Industrial Doctorate Plan (DI Plan) of the Generalitat de Catalunya is organizing the 2022 Impact Awards for Industrial Doctorates competition. The purpose of the awards is to describe the impact generated by collaborative research within a current or future industrial doctoral project, through a text and an infographic with the characteristics indicated in section IV of these rules.
II. OBJECTIVES
The competition aims to:
- To make visible the impact that industrial doctoral projects funded by the Generalitat de Catalunya have generated from different perspectives: general in society, in the company or institution itself, in the professional development of people.
- Bringing Industrial Doctorates closer to the public in order to identify challenges (current or future) and anticipate what kind of impact they would generate. It is hoped that these proposals could be future applications for the DI grant call.
III. PARTICIPANTS and CATEGORIES
The competition is aimed at participants in the Industrial Doctorate Plan (company managers, thesis directors, industrial doctors, industrial doctoral students) for the following categories:
Category 1: Impact on society.
- Contributions in this category must show how the industrial doctoral project has made a new product or service available to citizens, has provided new knowledge to respond to current or future challenges, among other contributions of general interest.
Category 2: Impact on the company or institution.
- In this category, contributions must show how the industrial doctoral project has introduced improvements in the company or institution: attraction of talent, training and knowledge sharing, internal procedures, new product or service, protection of research results, use of tax benefits, establishment of new collaborations, among others.
Category 3: Impact on people.
- Contributions in this category must show how the industrial doctoral project has become an opportunity for improvement for any of the people involved: improvement and acquisition of skills, access to new knowledge and technologies, creation of a network of contacts, enjoyment of an international stay, among others.
With the aim of opening the Industrial Doctorates program to all citizens, we invite any person of legal age, resident in Catalonia in the fourth category, to participate in the competition:
Category 4: Industrial doctoral project proposal and its expected impact.
In this fourth category, any person not linked to the Industrial Doctorate Plan may make a proposal for a collaborative research project between a company or institution, and a Catalan university or research centers of Catalonia (CERCA).
