Zyrcular Foods, a company dedicated to the development of food products based on plant protein, has been recognized at the first Nit del Clúster Carn Innovac for its innovation and commitment to food sustainability. The Fuetveg project, developed together with Curós and Embotits Salgot, obtained the best evaluation during the celebration in Girona.
Zyrcular Foods, created in 2020, is a company that is part of the Zyrcular Protein Labs SL group. This group is dedicated to the development, production and distribution of plant-based protein foods in a sustainable manner. Within the group, Zyrcular Lab Protein focuses on the creation of healthy foods based on the analysis of consumer needs. Zyrcular Plants, for its part, is responsible for the comprehensive production of these foods in its own production plants equipped with state-of-the-art technology. Finally, Zyrcular Brands distributes these products under its own brands, offering a wide range of environmentally friendly flavors and textures.
The industrial PhD project developed by Zyrcular Foods in collaboration with the University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC), initiated in 2022, aims to study the influence of different plant raw materials and their processing by extrusion on the physical, chemical and sensory characteristics of new plant-based products. This project is crucial to identify emerging plant raw materials from a nutritional and sustainability point of view, study the technological behavior of these materials in the extrusion process and analyze the impact on the characteristics of the final products. The ultimate goal is to optimize these products so that they are well accepted by consumers, addressing the challenge of ensuring the sensory quality of alternative plant-based foods
