Sequentia Biotech, with an industrial doctorate, winner of the Premio Emprendedores a la Innovación Agrialimentaria

Sequentia Biotech has been recognized with the prestigious Premio Emprendedores a la Innovación Agrialimentaria during the 20th gala of the Premios Emprendedores, held at the Teatro Goya in Madrid.

The ceremony, which brought together more than 350 attendees among entrepreneurs, managers, investors and other protagonists of the entrepreneurial ecosystem, has celebrated two decades of highlighting business talent and innovation in Spanish territory. In this special edition, Sequentia Biotech has been awarded for its career and contributions in the field of bioinformatics and technology applied to agri-food innovation.

Sequentia Biotech has a link with the Industrial Doctorate Plan of Catalonia , since in 2015 it participated in a project that culminated in the successful defense of a doctoral thesis. This project, developed jointly with the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) , focused on the analysis of chromatin interactions in vivo and the structural organization of mammalian genomes.

The main objective was to create a "biological atlas" that integrated epigenetic signatures and functional genomic characteristics. The results provided a better understanding of the mechanisms underlying the organization of genomes and laid the groundwork for the development of targeted treatments for complex human disorders. This pioneering work positioned Sequentia as a key company at the intersection of bioinformatics and life sciences.

Founded 15 years ago and based in Barcelona, Sequentia Biotech has completed more than 800 projects in 63 countries, collaborating with multinationals, research centers and hospitals. With more than 70 scientific publications and global recognition, the company transforms omics data into innovative solutions for precision medicine and the food industry.

During the presentation of the award, the CEO and co-founder of the company, Walter Sanseverino , highlighted the impact of bioinformatics in key sectors such as agri-food and thanked the support received in Spain, which he considers an ideal ecosystem for technological and scientific development.

The Emprendedores Awards , organized by the magazine of the same name, are an annual recognition of entrepreneurial talent in different fields. The XX edition wanted to pay tribute to the winners of previous editions and highlight the evolution of the Spanish business fabric during the last two decades. Among this year's winners are also companies such as Vicio (business growth) and Job&Talent (entrepreneur of the year), which share the focus on innovation and social impact.

With this recognition, Sequentia Biotech consolidates its position as a leading company in the field of technological and agri-food innovation, standing out not only for its technical capacity but also for its commitment to collaborative projects such as the one developed in the framework of Industrial Doctorates. Another example of the potential of this program to connect scientific research with the real needs of industry.
