The Industrial Doctorates Plan participated in the 1st Annual Conference of the RDI-IA Network, held last May 22 at the Llotja del Mar in Barcelona. The event brought together more than 150 attendees, including researchers, entrepreneurs and institutional representatives.

During the afternoon session, Jordi Alba, representative of the Industrial Doctorates Plan, presented the program of the Generalitat de Catalunya as an example of successful collaboration between science and industry, highlighting several key aspects of the program. He highlighted how the research carried out in industrial doctorates is strategic, collaborative and applied, with a significant return to society through the creation of highly qualified jobs and the promotion of knowledge transfer.

The figures presented by Jordi Alba illustrated the success of the initiative: more than 80% of industrial doctors continue to collaborate with companies after completing their doctorate, and 98% are interested in exploring new collaborations . In addition, 75% of industrial doctors remain in industry, and 20% of doctoral students undertake international mobility in companies or institutions. The opportunity for internationalization for both industries and research groups was also highlighted, as well as the results in terms of scientific publications and patents, with 40% of PhDs publishing between 3 and 4 scientific articles during their doctorate

This intervention was part of a series of presentations that also included contributions from Marco Orellana on the incorporation of AI innovation in DIH4CAT grants, and Emilio Iglesias on collaborations through the CDTI.

This event, in its first edition, highlights the importance of collaboration between universities, research centers and companies, and reinforces the commitment of the Industrial Doctorates Plan to the economic and technological development of Catalonia.
