Mohamed Amazian El Moussaoui, artistically known as Moha Amazian, is an exceptional case within the Industrial Doctorate Plan of Catalonia. With a career that is equally divided between the scientific and theatrical worlds, Amazian combines two seemingly opposite careers: chemistry and acting. TV3 interviewed Amazian to learn about this unique career.
Academically trained in Chemistry at the University of Barcelona (UB), Mohamed Amazian is currently developing an Industrial Doctorate project with the company Plating Decor SL, specialized in gold coatings for sectors such as jewelry and electronics. His research project is the result of a collaboration between Plating Decor SL and the Sustainable Electrochemical Processes group of the University of Barcelona (UB). He was also the UB representative in the " Thesis in 4 minutes " competition organized by the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation (FCRi). The project, as explained in the report previously published by the program, seeks to " improve the environmental sustainability of the industrial gold coating process and explore new applications of this metal in electrochemical processes for the transformation of atmospheric CO₂ ," as Amazian himself explains.
In parallel, Mohamed Amazian's artistic career has been consolidated in a few years, with outstanding performances in such important theaters as the Grec, the Romea, the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya or the Lliure. With relevant roles such as Samir in the series “ Jo mai mai ” or Karim in “ Com si fos ahir ”, Amazian has not only grown professionally, but has also assumed a role of responsibility as a reference for young people of North African origin: “ having a place on stage is always desirable, but I want them to value me beyond my origin ”, he says during the interview with TV3.
The duality of his life, shared between science and acting, entails significant personal sacrifices: “ Sacrificing hours of sleep, family time and friendships, but for now I am still surviving, ” comments Amazian with humor, who is defending his doctoral thesis this June while premiering a new play in the Sala Gran del Teatre Nacional.
This unique case highlights the diversity of profiles within the Industrial Doctorate Plan and exemplifies how personal and professional trajectories can enrich each other, thus promoting innovative projects with social impact.
