The University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC) stands out as the Catalan university with the highest proportion of industrial doctorates compared to the total number of doctoral students, according to data from the 2023-2024 academic year. With 13 industrial doctorates awarded, representing 3.45% of its 377 doctoral students, it surpasses the UOC (2.36%) and the UPC (1.68%).

In 2024, UVic-UCC awarded 20 industrial doctorates, more than double the number awarded in 2023, representing 13.4% of the total awarded to Catalan universities. For the 2024-2025 academic year, its Doctoral School has surpassed 400 enrolled students for the first time (416).

In the last decade (2013-2024), the university has obtained 80 industrial doctorates developed with 53 companies and institutions, mainly in the regions of Barcelonès, Osona and Bages. Of these projects, 42 were through co-financing and 38 with the specific modality. The predominant areas are Medical and Health Sciences (48.7%) and Experimental Sciences (33.7%).

Recently, 8 new industrial doctorates have been awarded at UVic-UCC, 6 in the field of Medical and Health Sciences (4 of them with the Vic Hospital Consortium), one in Social Sciences and another in Human Sciences.
