Industrial PhD student Núria Urgell promotes the creation of a network of Industrial Doctorates

The Industrial Doctorate Plan (DI Plan) is growing, and with it the need to connect the talent that is part of it. Responding to this need, industrial doctoral student Núria Urgell (class of 2025) has presented an initiative for the creation of a network of Industrial Doctorates.

The proposal, which Núria explained during the last welcoming session for new doctoral students, stems directly from her personal experience as a student. She highlighted the need to have a dedicated space where active participants can "connect, grow together and train", overcoming the isolation that can sometimes arise from developing a doctoral thesis in a business environment.

The aim of the network is, therefore, to be a collaborative ecosystem driven mainly by the students themselves. The idea is that the members themselves will organize practical activities designed for the network, such as networking sessions, thematic talks or training workshops to resolve common doubts. Within this structure, Alumni (doctors who have already graduated) play a key role, invited to participate to contribute their experience and perspective.

To launch the initiative, Núria issued a call to action to form a “founding group.” This initial core, made up of volunteers as active as Alumni , will be responsible for “shaping” the network, defining the first actions and assessing the development of future tools, such as a newsletter or a landing page to attract more members.

The Industrial Doctorates Plan celebrates this initiative that emerged from the ground up. As conveyed to the promoters, the DI Plan is committed to providing organizational support and the necessary resources to facilitate its launch, while respecting at all times the autonomy of the network and the leadership of its founding team. At the DI Plan, we are convinced that this network will be a key instrument to strengthen the links between academia and business, and to consolidate the impact of the talent trained in the program.
