Conference on the opportunities of the Industrial Doctorates Plan to strengthen relations between companies and universities

The UAB Research Park and the Doctoral School of the UAB organized last April 12 a conference on the Industrial Doctorates Plan promoted by the Generalitat de Catalunya. The conference was intended, on the one hand, to make companies aware of the advantages of joining this project in greater depth and, on the other hand, to present some success stories.

Dr. Dra. Pilar Dellunde, vice-rector for Research, took part in the conference to take stock of the implementation of this plan at the UAB from the beginning of 2013 to the present day. The UAB, together with the UPC, is the university with the most leading research projects focused on bringing people who are completing their research training to the reality of R&D&I in the Catalan industrial fabric.

Next, Jordi Alba Granados, project manager of the Plan at the Secretariat for Universities and Research of the Generalitat de Catalunya, explained the novelties incorporated in the fourth edition of the Industrial Doctorates Plan to promote new areas of research.

During the conference, a round table was also held with participating companies, doctoral students and thesis tutors, moderated by Dr. Xavier Gabarrell, academic secretary of the Doctoral School of the UAB. The objective was to know and share the experience of the participants of this program and thus motivate new doctoral students and companies to join. The participation of Joaquim Segalès, director of creSA and tutor of industrial doctoral students; Cristina Monfort, PhD candidate in Afinitica, and Albert Comas, general director of morenot company.

The event ended with a contact space for companies and researchers to explore possible collaborations.
