The RESI Europe 2024 Innovator's Pitch Challenge , held in Barcelona on June 17, is an opportunity for early-stage life sciences and healthcare companies to gain additional exposure to RESI Europe 2024 conference attendees, a valuable platform for innovation and collaboration. The winning company and the two finalists participate in the Industrial Doctorate Scheme.
The event, organized by Life Science Nation in collaboration with Biocat, the Barcelona City Council and the Generalitat de Catalunya, brought together 42 early-stage life sciences and health startups, with a notable participation from 23 Catalan companies.
Gate2Brain, a company with an industrial doctorate that we explained in an extensive report , has been the winner of the Innovator's Pitch Challenge Awards . This emerging company, specializing in innovative therapies for pediatric cancer, captured both the public and the jury with its innovative project. Second place went to YSOTOPE Theranostics and third to DyCare, both with several Industrial Doctorate projects.
The awards were presented by Dennis Ford (president of Life Science Nation), Jaume Baró Torres (executive director of Business and Entrepreneurship of Barcelona Activa) and Robert Fabregat Fuentes (CEO of Biocat).
During the event, Robert Fabregat from Biocat moderated a roundtable on the key role of Catalonia's advanced therapies ecosystem in innovation and clinical advances in ATMPs in Europe, with the participation of prominent experts in the sector such as Fina Lladós Canela (Amgen), Silvia Martín Lluesma (VHIO), Antoni Matilla Dueñas (BIOINTAXIS), Luis Pareras (Invivo Partners) and Esteve Trias i Adroher (Leitat Technological Center).
