Arròs Montsià, with two industrial doctorates, awarded at the Catalan Foodservice Night

Arròs Montsià has been awarded at the Catalan Foodservice Night for its innovative reusable hermetic lunchbox project made of rice husks, highlighting its commitment to sustainability and innovation.

Arròs Montsià was one of the protagonists in the recent Català Foodservice Night , held in Barcelona, standing out for its commitment to quality and innovation. The company has participated in the Industrial Doctorates Plan of the Generalitat de Catalunya with two completed research projects. One of the projects addressed the generation of new fungal-resistant rice varieties to reduce the use of fungicides and improve the competitiveness of the rice sector, while the other focused on the improvement of Montsianell rice by cultivating 'antes to guarantee its continuity in the Ebro Delta.

Arròs Montsià collaborated with the University of Barcelona on these projects, which have had a significant impact on sustainability and agricultural innovation in the Ebro Delta. This collaboration not only boosted the search for new solutions but also reinforced the importance of scientific knowledge in the development of more efficient and environmentally friendly agricultural products.

FoodService Night, organized by the FoodService Cluster (CFS) , celebrated its first edition last Thursday, July 4. This event, which commemorated the cluster's 10th anniversary, took place at the Institut de Microcirurgia Ocular (IMO) in Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, Barcelona, and brought together around 300 people from the food sector, including companies, research groups and innovation, and prominent public institutions.

The prize for the best project in Research and Investigation was awarded to Cooperativa Arròs Montsià for its hermetic reusable lunch box made of rice hulls. This award recognizes projects with an advanced technological maturity level (TRL) that have demonstrated their feasibility and practical applicability in the food sector, particularly valuing research efforts that contribute to improving efficiency, quality, sustainability or user experience.

Founded in 1927, the Cambra Arrossera del Montsià is an agricultural cooperative that brings together more than 2,500 members dedicated to cultivating, preparing and marketing rice under the protected designation of origin "Arròs del Delta de l'Ebre".
