First doctoral thesis of the Industrial Doctorates Plan

This past Wednesday, 7 July, the first public defence of an Industrial Doctorates Plan doctoral thesis took place at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC).

The author, Francisco Mena, defended the validity of the project and the methodology of his thesis, entitled 'Structural characteristics of fibre-reinforced concrete with mixed recycled aggregate’, before the jury of experts. The thesis was finally awarded a positive mark and the doctorand Mena became the first person to hold an industrial doctorate through the Industrial Doctorates Plan.

The thesis directors were among those present at the event: Antonio Aguado de Cea, PhD in Civil Engineering; Albert de la Fuente Antequera, PhD in Civil Engineering; and Ignacio Segura Pérez, PhD in Chemical Science. Also attending was Marcos López Antich, CEO of Escofet 1886, S.A., the company which participated in the doctoral thesis.
