Prof. Antonio Huerta / Academic Director of the Industrial Doctorates Plan
Welcome to the website of the Industrial Doctorates Plan. First, thank you for your visit; I invite you to get to know the different sections of this website.
The objectives of the Industrial Doctorates Plan are to contribute to the competitiveness and internationalization of Catalan industry, attract talent and train doctors for companies working in R & D and on innovation projects.
The essential element of the industrial doctorate process is the company's strategic research project, through which the doctoral student develops his research training in collaboration with a university and which is the subject of a doctoral thesis.
For the companies, this plan helps them attract people with the knowledge and skills of high added value, access universities’ leading groups and research centres as well as their facilities and infrastructure, and obtain financial aid and tax deductions and rebates for R&D and innovation projects.
For universities and research centres in Catalonia (CERCA), industrial doctorate projects are a chance for them to transfer their technology and expertise in the productive environment and therefore strengthen ties with the business world.
For students, this is an excellent opportunity to join a highly innovative environment that combines the academic supervision of the thesis with the mentoring that the companies provide as part of an employment contract for three years; one which incorporates other benefits such as free enrolment or a mobility fund.
It is my sincere wish that this website serve as a communication channel between doctoral students, universities, businesses and society in general.
